Ligue 1 Week 10 - 11/11/05 (19.00)
Ajaccio 0-0 Lens

Stade François-Coty

Ajaccio were unable to break down a solid Lens side and remained rooted to the relegation zone after Friday's 0-0 at the Stade François-Coty - a rescheduled Ligue 1 match from round 10.

The result means Ajaccio stay in 18th place, but did end a run of five straight defeats which have seen Rolland Courbis' men drop down the table after a bright start to the campaign.

For Friday night's visitors, the match merely confirmed that, despite the absences of defensive midfielders Alou Diarra and Seydou Keita (both suspended), Francis Gillot's side bare little resemblance to last season's defensive light touch and extended their own unbeaten run to 13 games.

Lens enjoyed more of the early ball but were unable to link up effectively with the attacking trio of Aruna Dindane, Daniel Cousin and Jussié.

It was the hosts that carved out the first chances with Lens' 'keeper Charles Itandje denying Christophe Mandrichi with an outstretched foot before Rafik Saïfi somehow contrived to head Camel Chafni's cross wide on 14 minutes.

Lens responded and finished the half on top with Cousin finding Stéphane Porato's post after leaving the 'keeper no chance with his left-foot strike.

Lens should off gone ahead shortly after the break when Olivier Thomert saw his volley from Jussié's cutback flash just the wrongside of Porato's left-hand upright.

However that chance marked the end of Lens as an attacking force and it was Ajaccio that could have claimed all three points in the dying stages when first Chafni and then Romain Rocchi went close.

Ajaccio: Porato - Jabi, Dzodic, Danjou, Collin - Saïfi, Rodrigo (cap), Rocchi, André Luiz - Madrichi (Rocchi 59), Diawara (Edson 69)

Lens: Itandje - Demont, Coulibaly, Hilton, Assou-Ekotto - Barul - Jussié, Léroy (cap), Thomert - Dindane (Carrière 77), Cousin
