Metz boss Joël Muller admits that only three points will be acceptable from Saturday’s eastern derby with Sochaux.
Unbeaten in their last four games, Les Messins are showing signs of life. But after three consecutive draws they remain 19th, eight points from a position of safety.
They twice led Toulouse on Saturday, only to finish drawing 2-2, and Muller admitted: “The players have not taken that result well.
“We really needed the win and it’s not good for morale. To let your opponent equalise on two occasions, and both times towards the end of the half, is hard to take.
“When you are competitors and players at the top level, you cannot accept this kind of situation," added the under-fire boss.
Metz are 10 points behind their 14th-placed neighbours Sochaux, and desperately need to secure a second win of the season when they travel to the Stade Bonal this weekend.
“We hope we are on the right track but if we carry on drawing matches we are not going to progress very far," Muller continued.
“The games are passing by and we are not doing enough to make up for our poor start.”
