Portsmouth’s new Coach Harry Redknapp has reportedly made Marcel Desailly his top transfer target, while French duo Laurent Robert and Vincent Pericard are set for reprieves.
Redknapp, whose return to struggling Pompey was confirmed last night, is expected to offer Desailly, 37, the chance to return to the Premier League, according to BBC Sport.
The former Chelsea stopper is without a club after quitting Qatar last month, and has made it clear that he would prefer to return to England than continue his career in Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Redknapp has confirmed that Robert will be given another opportunity to shine at Fratton Park after a stormy few weeks.
The former Paris Saint-Germain winger was brought to the South Coast on a season-long loan by Redknapp's predecessor Alain Perrin but his spell looked to be turning sour.
The former Newcastle star was fined by the club after refusing to sit on the substitutes' bench for a home game with Chelsea recently.
Finally, former Saint-Etienne forward, Pericard, will be called back from his loan spell with Sheffield United.
Redknapp signed the French ace from Juventus in August 2002, and his loan spell at Bramall Lane has helped him regain fitness after an injury-blighted time at Portsmouth.
