Jérôme Rothen could well be the next high-profile player to be benched by Paris Saint-Germain Coach Laurent Fournier.
The France midfielder has struggled for form recently and was replaced by Cristian Rodriguez an hour into the capital club's 2-0 loss away to Lyon at the weekend.
As a result, Rothen requested a private meeting with Fournier yesterday, but his chances of starting against Rennes on Saturday look to have diminished after he was relegated to the 'substitutes team' during training with Rodriguez playing for the 'first team'.
Fournier has also gone on record saying the former Monaco ace "is not performing very well at the moment", a situation he attributes to the long-term consequences of the foot and thigh injuries that plagued him last term.
Having left Bonaventure Kalou out for two games and substituted Vikash Dhorasoo at half-time against Bordeaux recently, Fournier has already proved he is willing to drop his stars for the good of the team.
