Pierre-Alain Frau has finally joined Lens on loan from Lyon until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent.
The former Sochaux striker made no secret of his desire to sign for Les Sang et Or after making just four appearances this season, but the champions were initially reluctant to lose one of their players halfway through the campaign.
"I'm very satisfied by Pierre-Alain's arrival," enthused Lens President Gervais Martel. "We made contact [with Lyon] a month and a half ago and I'm pleased by how things has worked out.
"He's only ever had one wish: to join Lens. Thanks to him we will have less to worry about during the African Cup of Nations, a prestigious competition we fully respect.
"Two years ago, we lost eight players, so I hope our results won't suffer as much this time. Especially seeing as it will be our centenary year!"
Issam Jemaa and Aruna Dindane will be making the trip to Egypt in January, and Frau will no doubt be desperate to take advantage of their absences to rediscover his best form.
Lens are said to have paid Lyon an indemnity of 338,000 Euros for his services and will also be funding his wages.
