Auxerre striker Peguy Luyindula insists he and his teammates must focus on finishing runners-up to Lyon this season.
His old club are 11 points clear at the top after both sides won on Saturday, and the France international thinks nothing will stop them sealing a fifth straight title come May.
"We're second behind Lyon but they're irresistible at the moment and we just have to think about consolidating our position," he said, after scoring twice in the 4-0 demolition of Nantes.
"For that we need to keep getting good results which will improve our confidence. Only victories give you that confidence."
The Burgundy club's Coach Jacques Santini preferred to avoid talk of end-of-season ambitions, and praised his players for recording such a valuable win.
"We won and we have to be happy with that. We were very effective, whereas two weeks ago we started matches badly," he told reporters.
"This time, Peguy Luyindula took advantage of a mistake by the Nantes defence very early on and that allowed us to set the right tempo going forward, even though my players were clearly tired."
In the Nantes camp, Canaris boss Serge Le Dizet said he hopes his charges can take heart from how Auxerre responded to their 7-0 mauling at Lens earlier this term.
"They shipped seven goals at the start of the season, but since then they've been able to lift their heads," he explained. "We conceded four and I hope we'll lift our heads very, very quickly before we face Monaco next week.
"Bad days like that happen all the time. We're not the first and we won't be the last to have one. We just came across a good Auxerre side on a high at the moment."
