Cissé dismisses Marseille talk

Saturday 31 December, 2005

Liverpool striker Djibril Cissé has spoken out in an attempt to end the speculation linking him with a move to Marseille in January.

The Mediterranean outfit have made no secret of their desire to bring the France international in on loan, and the switch looked to be on the cards when his brother and former agent declared the deal "90 per cent done".

"I'm in Liverpool for three more seasons and I'm not going to leave," an angry Cissé declared. "I'm here to stay. It hurt me because it's my own family who talk rubbish.

"I'm really disappointed and annoyed with my brother. I don't have any contact with him. There's no truth in any of these stories. I'm more than fed up with all the Marseille rumours, it's really tiring.

"I just wanted the stuff to be clear and to be honest with the fans, who are very important to me. I feel good here and I don't want to go after just two seasons. We have a really good team and performances at the moment.

"I don't know why people want to spoil it. It's boring but I'm strong enough to deal with it and switch off my mind and be focussed on the game."

Cissé has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season and looks to be sure of a place in Raymond Domenech's World Cup squad.
