Ajaccio warned after racist incident

Friday 30 December, 2005

The Professional Football League's disciplinary commission have given Ajaccio "a severe warning" following racist crowd behaviour earlier this month.

Observers were shocked when a banana was thrown and monkey noises aimed at Paris Saint-Germain defender Bernard Mendy (pictured) during a Ligue 1 clash at the Stade François-Coty on December 17.

"Any new incidents of this nature will be sanctioned with the most extreme rigour," read the statement from the commission.

Ajaccio's fans were also involved in a number of racist incidents last season.
