Lille President Michel Seydoux is determined to develop a new stadium for the club after local authorities ended hopes of expanding the Stade Gimonprez-Jooris.
The discovery of an ancient citadel near to the team's traditional home scuppered the northerners' plans, however Seydoux who seemed lukewarm on the idea anyway is adamant that a solution be found quickly.
"We're going to get together to finish our work [on possible locations for a new stadium]," he declared. "Then it will be up to the elected members of the Lille Urban Commission to choose a site.
"It's not for me to say in public which of the three possible locations (Lille-Sud, Lezennes, Lesquin) I prefer.
"I just want the quickest possible conclusion, and the one which gives us the least amount of problems so we can avoid a legal marathon.
"We're only after one thing: a big stadium in Lille. If the political will is there and the site is risk-free, then, being optimistic, I think the new ground could be ready three years after the decision of the elected members.
"That's counting one year for planning and two years of building."
Until then, Les Dogues will have to continue hosting their matches at the Stadium du Nord, where they have been forced to play for the past 18 months.
