New Paris Saint-Germain Coach Guy Lacombe says he is ready to help the club back into the Champions' League.
The former Sochaux trainer was booed by fans as he took his first training session, but he believes he is the right man to see out the end of the season after replacing deposed boss Laurent Fournier.
"I told the players they face individual challenges within a collective challenge and, if everything goes well, everyone's a winner," he told reporters.
"A lot of clubs are looking for that magical second place, but we're only one point away. So we need to be objective: the situation isn't dramatic. It's going to be a difficult but exciting challenge for the players."
Some have described Lacombe as a stern disciplinarian, however he denied that his appointment would bring about a return to the days of Fournier's predecessor, Vahid Halilhodzic.
"I've got a strong character, it's true, but I don't think you can be a Coach without one," he said. "I have to adapt to the players and they have to adapt to what I'm going to propose.
"Until now, those who have gone along with my ideas haven't been unhappy."
The 2004 Coupe de la Ligue winner also had a word of sympathy for the man he was called in to replace.
"'Lolo' Fournier did a good job and the support the players expressed for him was very good. After that, all I wish is that Lolo can recover from this testing time because that's what it is."
