Portugal’s record goalscorer Pedro Pauleta appears unlikely to grace the Portuguese top flight after declaring his wish to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.
Pauleta is under contract with the capital club until 2008 and he told Portuguese newspaper Record that he intends to see out the deal.
“I am not going to finish my career in Portugal,” said the 32-year-old. “I no longer believe in that possibility.”
Pauleta moved to Spain, then France before ever playing in his domestic top flight, and many felt he would finish his career in his homeland.
But he is currently in fine form in Ligue 1, having netted 12 goals in 18 games this season, and the former Bordeaux goal-getter appears set to finish his career in France.
