Nice set for new stadium

The Deputy Mayor of Nice Jacques Peyrat has backed plans for the construction of a new stadium, which would be ready in 2007.

The Cari-Spada Group have submitted proposals to build a new 32,826 seat ground, to be called Grand Stade, and the plans received the green light on Monday.

Building work on the Saint Isidore site is set to commence in July 2006, and the scheduled finish would be November 2007.

Therefore, the 2006-07 campaign could prove to be Nice’s final season in their current Stade du Ray ground.
