Saint-Etienne President Bernard Caïazzo wants France to play their final World Cup preparation game at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Friendlies have been arranged against Slovakia and Mexico, both of which will be at the Stade de France, while Les Bleus will also play Denmark at Lens’ Stade Félix-Bollaert.
France will play one further game before debarking for Germany, and Caïazzo would like his club to host the clash 30 years after their epic European Cup final defeat against Bayern Munich in Glasgow.
“There’s nothing official for the moment but I am hoping that during the month of January I will be able to announce a major sporting event at Saint-Etienne,” said Caïazzo.
“France could play their final game at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard before flying off for the World Cup. Having Les Bleus in Le Chaudron to pay tribute to the ’76 generation that excited the whole of the nation would be perfect.”
