Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Fournier will hold emergency talks with the club President Pierre Blayau on Tuesday to discuss his future.
Speculation that Fournier could soon be sacked has been spreading ever since Blayau made a surprising statement challenging the trainer after PSG’s 2-0 win over Rennes on December 10.
According to Monday’s edition of L’Equipe, Fournier will learn his fate when he sits down with Blayau at club headquarters tomorrow.
Blayau was the man responsible for offering Fournier a long-term deal on May 27, four months after he had replaced Vahid Halilhodzic on a caretaker basis.
Fournier was given funds to spend in the summer, but his failure to get high-profile new-signings Vikash Dhorasoo and Bonaventure Kalou playing well together in the same team appears to have prompted his demise.
It is widely believed that Blayau has been trying to recruit Paul Le Guen, having already been rebuffed by the former Lyon boss in the summer.
Blayau had offered his complete support to Fournier until a fortnight ago, when, out of the blue, he declared: "The question [of replacing the Coach] is one we all have to look at together. When stability sometimes and I mean sometimes rhymes with mediocrity, then that's not a good thing.
"This team is just not consistent enough to have any hope of finishing second. So today, I'm sounding the alarm.
"The win [over Rennes] was obligatory, but it doesn't diminish the concerns I have about the behaviour of the team."
