Portugal midfielder Maniche has emerged as the next Monaco target following the capture on Marco Di Vaio on Thursday.
Di Vaio penned a six-month loan deal, becoming Francesco Guidolin’s first major signing, and according the L’Equipe the second could follow in the next few days.
The newspaper claims that Monaco vice-President Gérard Brianti has travelled to Russia to speak to Maniche, who is currently on the books of Dinamo Moscow.
The powerful midfielder has played just 12 matches for Dinamo this season and still has two years left on his contract to run. Monaco, though, are ready to pay the £7m asking price.
Maniche was a key part of the Porto side that won the Champions’ League in 2004 and also helped Portugal reached the Euro 2004 final.
Meanwhile, Guidolin has expressed his delight at signing the former Parma and Juventus striker Di Vaio from Valencia.
“It’s an important piece of news for the club because Di Vaio is a very good player who has proved himself in Italy,” said Guidolin.
“He’s a fast forward, skilful, and he does not just wait for the ball to come to him in the penalty area. He’s also a good boy who won’t pose any problems.”
