Arsenal set sights on Pelé

Wednesday 21 December, 2005

Arsenal have been monitoring the progress of Le Mans goalkeeper Yohann Pelé.

Pelé, 23, has been one of Ligue 1’s top performers this season and has attracted the attention of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Ex-Arsenal defender Gilles Grimandi, now a club scout, has been watching the ‘keeper in recent weeks leading to rumours that the club are planning a January swoop.

Wenger is still looking for a long-term replacement for David Seaman despite the impressively consistent performances of Jens Lehmann this season.
