In-demand Zokora to wait

Wednesday 21 December, 2005

Didier Zokora’s agent has responded to links with Manchester United and Arsenal by claiming there will be no January move.

The Saint-Etienne player had announced he would love to play for the Premiership duo in the wake of their interest, but his agent says he will bide his time.

“There is an agreement between us all – the player, myself and the club - that he will not leave until the summer,” Franck Belhassen told Sky Sports.

“We keep in regular contact with Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson, but you have to look at all the options,” he explained. “Real Madrid have a strong interest and they could come in.”

Belhassen did admit that the English clubs were currently in pole position.

“Of course he would love to move to England, he knows his game would be suited there and he likes it. We know the interest is there and we will look at them when it is time – which will be the end of the season.”
