Marseille watch Nemeth

Wednesday 21 December, 2005

Marseille are planning a bid for Middlesbrough’s Szilard Nemeth in case they fail to land Djibril Cissé from Liverpool.

The Southern side are desperate to add another striker to their squad in January with the Merseyside man their number one target.

But after Cissé recently stated his determination to stay at Liverpool, Marseille’s sporting director José Anigo has been drawing up a list of alternatives.

The Slovakian international is thought to be joined on the shortlist by Maxi Lopez, Marco Di Vaio and Patrick Kluivert.

With Nemeth’s contract soon to expire it is thought a January loan deal would suit both clubs, possibly involving a swap deal for OM's Abdoulaye Meité.

But the Ivory Coast defender has already turned down a move to the Riverside and is also being chased by Bolton, Everton and Blackburn.
