Two-goal hero Lilian Laslandes was all smiles after rediscovering his scoring touch in the 3-1 Coupe de la Ligue win over Nantes.
The former Sunderland striker had only netted once in 17 matches this season before Tuesday’s game, but he trebled that tally to help Les Girondins into the quarter-finals.
Bordeaux only created a handful of chances, but some superb finishing - from Laslandes in particular - saw them through. “I haven’t seen Bordeaux play so efficiently for some time,” said the 34-year-old.
“We tried to play football but it wasn’t easy on that pitch. But we took our chances, and in the Cup the most important thing is to qualify. Style comes second.
“We still have two games to win to get into the final. We are going to try to stay focused and improve our game," added Laslandes.
Laslandes has been linked with a move at Christmas, with Ajaccio and Nice both in the frame. But Bordeaux boss Ricardo suggested he would not be selling the veteran. “There won’t be any changes to the squad, unless there is an unplanned departure,” Ricardo said.
