Zidane just worried about France

Tuesday 20 December, 2005

Real Madrid playmaker Zinedine Zidane says he couldn't care less about France's opponents at next summer's World Cup.

Whereas most of the country is wondering how best to take on Switzerland, South Korea and Togo in Group G, 'Zizou' is focusing solely on how Les Bleus approach the tournament.

"The other teams? Who cares?" he stated. "I couldn't care less about the other teams. The important thing is us, how we prepare, what we're going to do and how we'd like to go as far as possible.

"We're going to have to be better than we've been up until now if we hope to do anything in Germany. We need to be aware of that and honest about it. The Coach knows it too."

As far as his own recipe for his success goes, the 33-year-old is insistent that France have to travel with a squad full of players who can come into the first team and do a job.

"A substitute has to be able to do the same as a starter," he explained. "That's what's important in a team that wants to go far. We have to have two players in every position and really have the best ones."
