Bodmer signs two-year extension

Midfielder Mathieu Bodmer has signed a two-year extension to his current contract at Lille, tying him to Les Dogues until 2011.

The 23-year-old was linked with a host of foreign clubs towards the end of last season, including Italian giants AC Milan.

He has played 15 Ligue 1 games so far this term and shone in his side’s two games against Manchester United in the Champions’ League.

The northern club was delighted by the news which it considers “shows the player has real confidence in the club, despite attracting many offers from abroad.”

Bodmer, nicknamed the ‘white Vieira’, joined Lille in 2003 after emerging from the Caen youth system.
