France stay fifth in FIFA rankings

Monday 19 December, 2005

Raymond Domenech's France team remain fifth in this month's FIFA World Rankings, with Brazil again leading the way.

Les Bleus have not been in action since November 12, but they still had to resist a charge up the table from Mexico and Spain – with whom they share 768 points.

At the top of the pile, Luis Felipe Scolari's Seleçao are a long way ahead of the highest-ranked European team – the Czech Republic – and they finish the year in front for the fourth time in a row.

World Cup hosts Germany lie back in 16th, while England remain ninth.

The Top 10
1. Brazil 840 pts
2. Czech Republic 796
3. Netherlands 71
4. Argentina 772
5. Mexico 768 (+2)
.Spain 768 (+1)
.France 768
8. USA 767
9. England 757
10. Portugal 754
