Paris Saint-Germain striker Pedro Pauleta believes speculation surrounding the future of Coach Laurent Fournier is the last thing the club needs.
A 1-1 draw away to struggling Ajaccio at the weekend did Fournier no favours, but Pauleta echoed his boss by insisting that it was a positive result for the sixth-placed side.
"It was a good point," he said. "If we draw away and win at home, we'll be alright. For now, we're still capable of achieving our goals. Apart from Lyon, everyone can finish between second and eighth.
"Stability is always difficult at PSG, but the club needs things to calm down. There's always something going on here."
"Things get out of proportion here," added forward Bonaventure Kalou. "We've reached the winter break and we're still up there. Second place is not out of our reach and we have good chances of qualifying for the Champions' League."
Defender David Rozehnal was also keen to add his voice to the chorus of support for Fournier.
"Not everything that has happened is the Coach's fault," he explained. "We the players are the first ones to blame. For me, it's 70% the players and 30% the Coach.
"The Coach is good and he prepares well for matches. I think he'll still be there after the winter break. I'm not sure, but I hope so."
Yesterday, President Pierre Blayau told television station TF1 he would make a decision during the traditional Christmas break and that, "Laurent Fournier's future is not secure."
He also expressed his admiration for former Lyon boss Paul Le Guen, suggesting that, "his experience could bring us a lot."
