Lee Dixon has laughed off suggestions that Arsene Wenger will be sacked as Arsenal Coach, and believes the tactician was right to sell Patrick Vieira.
Wenger has had a difficult season without his former captain, but Dixon believes that there is no chance of the former Monaco Coach being sacked.
“There is absolutely no chance of Arsene being sacked,” he told the BBC. “And rightly so, he's done a fantastic job. The club may be in transition but Arsene knows exactly what he is doing.”
The former Gunners full-back also backed Wenger’s decision to allow French international Vieira to join Juventus in the summer.
“It was good business for the club to get nearly £14m for a player who was 29 and who is carrying injuries into matches. Maybe Arsene thought he was past his physical best.
“Sometimes players are struggling to get out of their bed on their days off, going into training and not been able to do much - just going on a bike. Supporters don't see that side of the game, whereas Arsene saw Patrick every day and maybe made a decision about his physical state.”
