Djibril Cissé looks set to turn down a move to Marseille after declaring his commitment to Liverpool.
The former Auxerre star is desperate to play regularly ahead of the World Cup and, after being kept on the fringes by Reds boss Rafael Benitez this season, has been strongly linked with a loan move to the Stade Vélodrome at Christmas.
But he told the Liverpool website: "I love Liverpool. I have great friends and great team-mates and I've bought a great house. I just got married, so why would I want to leave?"
He added: "The mentality in the dressing room is different to France. It's just friendly and happy. They all make jokes and make each other laugh."
The 24-year-old turned in an impressive display in yesterday’s FIFA Club World Championship semi-final, but it remains unclear as to whether he is part of the Spanish Coach’s future plans.
Cissé has scored 11 goals for Liverpool this season, but just two of those have come in the Premiership, with Fernando Morientes and Peter Crouch emerging as Benitez's favoured front two.
Marseille boss Jean Fernandez said at the weekend: “I don’t about know everything that has gone on, but I know that we need a striker. I would be happy to have Djibril Cissé. He’s a great player with huge potential. It is an honour to have him.”
