Landreau weighing up offers

Thursday 15 December, 2005

Long-serving Nantes goalkeeper Mickaël Landreau could be set to quit the Stade de la Beaujoire next month as doubts about his future persist.

The France international is out of contract at the end of the season, but he is able to sign elsewhere in January and admits to having been contacted already.

"I haven't had 50 offers, but I've had two or three," he said. "Some of them look like hotting up come January."

Landreau nevertheless met with Canaris President Rudi Roussillon last week to listen to a proposed new deal.

"Concerning the club's offer, there's no problem," he explained. "In any case, there's never been a money problem between me and Nantes.

"Our respective figures are very close, but I don't want to rush."

The 26-year-old joined Les Canaris at the age of 14 in 1993, however the intense ambition he has demonstrated all throughout his career could lead him to pursue a new adventure.

He was an influential figure as Nantes lifted the Ligue 1 trophy in 2001, yet it has all been downhill since then and the club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season last term.

Currently 12th in the standings, they look almost certain to miss out on the European places again this year.
