Lowly Ajaccio hit by Chafni loss

Ajaccio’s woes continued on Tuesday with news that midfielder Kamel Chafni is facing three weeks on the sidelines with a sprained ankle.

Chafni picked up the injury after a strong challenge from Nice defender Rod Fanni on Saturday, as the Corsican club slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the Stade du Ray.

The 23-year-old former Châteauroux player has featured in 17 of Ajaccio’s 18 League matches this season.

Ajaccio are 18th in the standings, six points away from a position of safety ahead of their final game of the first half of the season at home to Paris Saint-Germain.
