Horror tackle breaks Adailton’s leg

Nancy’s Brazilian defender Adailton has fractured his shinbone after he was caught late by Strasbourg defender Yves Deroff.

Deroff went steaming in clumsily on Adailton and was subsequently shown a red card, while television pictures showed disturbing images of the Nancy player’s gashed leg.

Strasbourg went on to claim their first Ligue 1 win of the season (2-1), but Nancy defender Frédéric Biancalani said: “The biggest concern tonight is not the result but the injury to Adailton.

“When I saw the state he was in, a cold shiver went down my spine and I had trouble focusing on football after that.”

Nancy boss Pablo Correa felt the same way, saying: “Tonight we lost a lot more than three points when you think about the injury to Adailton.”

Adailton is understood to have had an operation during the night immediately after the game.
