Lille captain Stéphane Dumont feels his side have not had the luck in front of goal they deserve in the last week, hitting the woodwork three times.
The fit-again midfielder saw his volley cannon off the crossbar against Villarreal in the Champions’ League last Wednesday, while Lille hit the post on two occasions during their goalless stalemate with Lens on Saturday.
“Things are not going our way right now,” Dumont said. “The ball is just not going in. We hit the woodwork twice against Lens but only finished with a draw.
“It’s good that we’re not conceding, but seeing as we were at home, it feels like two points lost rather than one gained.”
Dumont was nonetheless pleased with the team’s resilience, bouncing back from the disappointment of the Champions’ League exit.
“We were physically present and that shows great strength and determination after the efforts we made in Spain,” he continued.
“It wouldn’t have taken much for us to have won the game, but all in all we won’t complain. The most important thing was not to lose.”
