Thuram pleased with draw

Saturday 10 December, 2005

Lilian Thuram says that France have landed “a good group” after they were pooled with Switzerland, Togo and South Korea in World Cup Group G.

The Juventus ace claimed Les Bleus should progress if they perform to their potential.

“I have to admit it is a good group,” said the veteran stopper. “If you look at Italy in Group E, or Argentina in Group C, they have very difficult groups.

“Moreover we know Switzerland well because we played against them in qualification. Togo, we know a bit less.

“South Korea are a very good side who reached the semi-finals of the last World Cup. But I think the France team can progress.

“The most important thing is that we start well, that we win our opening game or at least play very, very well.

“That’s the key, The behaviour of the France team is the most important thing – the names of our opponents are secondary.”
