Coach: Erick Mombaerts
Erick Mombaerts carved out a modest playing career in France’s lower Leagues, playing just one season with Ligue 1 powerhouse Lens in 1975. An astute tactician who has published several books on football tactics, Mombaerts took to coaching in 1986 with the Paris Saint-Germain reserve squad. In 1989 he led the PSG juniors to the national Coupe Gambardella. After stints with Guingamp and Cannes, Mombaerts took over the youth team at Toulouse in 1999 and was senior Coach two years later. Credited with returning the Téfécé to the top rung of French football, Mombaerts’ Toulouse play a fast, entertaining brand of counterattacking football. |
