Coach: Francis Gillot
When President Gervais Martel appointed Francis Gillot as Coach after Joël Muller was sacked in January 2005, many felt the club were unwilling, or unable, to invest in a big name. Not so, insisted Martel, who explained the need to put the team in the hands of a former player, a man understood the team's history and values. As Muller's former assistant, and a defender for les Sang et Or in the 1980s, Gillot fitted the profile perfectly. And flanked by his old teammates Eric Sikora and Didier Sénac, Gillot took the side from relegation trouble to a place in the Intertoto Cup in his first five months. |
