Coach: Rolland Courbis
The most charismatic man in French football of this or perhaps any era, Rolland Courbis's life would be deemed unbelievable by Hollywood screenwriters. Aside from a long love-affair with an Italian countess and a penchant for casinos, the outspoken Marseille-born tactician has always skated on rather thin ice legally. Jailed for financial irregularities during his time as Toulon Coach, shot in the stomach during a Corsican gangland slaying in 1996, Courbis is also still under investigation for suspicious transfer activity when he bossed Marseille between 1997 and 1999. He has never won a French title as Coach and plans to work abroad after the 2005-06 season. |
