Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has launched a stinging attack on troubled Inter striker Adriano. “I wouldn’t touch him.”
The Brazilian star has been the source of huge speculation in the peninsula as his chances of playing a role at the San Siro this term are looking increasingly small.
A number of sides had been linked with a loan swoop for the ex-Parma man, but the fiery Zamparini is keen to stress that he never gave L’Imperatore a thought.
“I wouldn’t take Adriano even on a free transfer,” he told Teleradiostereo. “It’s better to leave players alone if you aren’t sure that they will commit to the cause.
“I applaud Roma for the way they dealt with Antonio Cassano – it’s not enough to just have talent, you need the right attitude.”
The Rosanero certainly seem to have enough firepower with the mouth-watering combination of Fabrizio Miccoli and Amauri impressing in last weekend’s 4-2 win over Livorno.
“My Palermo side is a good, balanced group even if we still need to test a few things,” Zamparini continued. “It’s just like Luciano Spalletti, who is starting to see the fruits of his labour after two years of hard work.
“Roma, Inter and Milan are the strongest in Serie A, but then come us, Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina.”
Finally, the outspoken entrepreneur took time to praise one man who he knows is an unobtainable target.
“Alberto Aquilani is the new Patrick Vieira and he will be a key player for the Azzurri as he is for Roma,” he stated.
“He is more physical than Daniele De Rossi and I couldn’t have a higher opinion of him. “
