Inter's Muntari appeal fails
Friday 19 September, 2008

Inter's appeal against Ghanaian midfield star Sulley Muntari's three-game ban has been rejected.

Muntari was dismissed during the Nerazzurri's game against Catania last Saturday for striking Giacomo Tedesco.

But Inter's players and Coach Jose Mourinho were livid as they felt that Tedesco had exaggerated the contact.

The Italian champions launched an appeal to try and overturn sporting judge Gianpaolo Tosel's decision, hoping to reduce or cancel the ban.

However, the Beneamata's appeal against the harshest possible result has failed and Muntari will be missing for three Serie A encounters.

Mourinho will be now be without Muntari for this weekend's trip to Torino, the visit of Lecce and, most importantly, the Milan derby on September 28.
