Fabio Cannavaro has confirmed he wants to end his career at Napoli, starting from 2009-10. “It’s no secret.”
The World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner has had great success in his life since he was a ball boy at the Stadio San Paolo.
“Before the end of the current season, I must meet with the Real directors to discuss my situation,” confirmed Canna in Spanish newspaper AS.
“If the club still has faith in my capabilities, we’ll see what will happen. I certainly won’t disguise the face that before ending my career I would like to play for Napoli again.”
He made his Serie A debut aged 19 and left the side in 1995, going on to Parma, Inter, Juventus and Real Madrid.
However, the 35-year-old assures this pledge does not mean he is considering retirement just yet.
“I am not thinking about it. I feel good and want to continue right up to the 2010 World Cup. It was painful to sit out the European Championship this summer.
“The World Cup is an objective again thanks to Marcello Lippi. I have a very honest rapport with him, so we can always discuss my fitness objectively.”
The veteran made his comeback in the recent World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Georgia after missing Euro 2008 with an ankle injury.
He is the second most capped Italy player of all time on 118 appearances behind Paolo Maldini’s 126.
