Serie A Week 6 - 5/10/08 (14.00 UK)
Udinese 2 - 0 Torino
Quagliarella 44, 77 (U)
Stadio Friuli

Fabio Quagliarella's brace put Udinese top of the table alongside Lazio and Inter, but Rolando Bianchi had a goal disallowed.

Toro last conquered the Stadio Friuli in Serie A with a 1-0 result on October 7, 1984, notching up just six draws from 10 visits. They hoped to take advantage of Udinese's exhaustion following extra time and penalties to eliminate Borussia Dortmund from the UEFA Cup on Thursday night.

Dias Felipe and Cristian Zapata remained long-term absentees, while Toro made the trip without the suspended Matteo Sereni and Francesco Pratali as well as injured Alessandro Rosina and Malonga.

Toro had a goal ruled offside on five minutes, but there were doubts over Rolando Bianchi's position. Samir Handanovic needed a splendid reaction save to deny Nicola Amoruso after Bianchi had knocked down Saumel's cross.

The Granata were having the better of the early play and Dzemaili drilled a low free kick just past the upright.

At the other end Cesare Natali bravely flung himself in the path of Alexis Sanchez and Isla skimmed the base of the near post with a right-foot strike.

Udinese broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time. Isla's tackle turned into an assist for Fabio Quagliarella, who did not hesitate to nutmeg goalkeeper Calderoni.

A right-foot Sanchez curler shaved a coat of paint off the far post, while Natali couldn't get enough power to his header for Torino.

Quagliarella put the result beyond doubt with a classic counter-attack, as he was clear on goal and even though Calderoni got a hand to his left-foot strike, there was no keeping it out.

In stoppages Toro again went close, but Handanovic fingertipped a Nicola Ventola volley on to the bar.
