Serie A Week 16 - 14/12/08 (14.00 UK)
Udinese 3 - 3 Lazio
Di Natale 9, 55 (U), Quagliarella 15 (U), Zarate 59 (L), Diakhite' 72 (L), Ledesma 85 (L)
Stadio Friuli

Lazio completed an incredible comeback from 3-0 down to 3-3 in the final half-hour!

Just two points separated these sides, who were both top of the table a few weeks ago and had since plummeted. Udinese's crisis was clear for all to see after five straight defeats, while Lazio had one point from four games and were demolished 3-0 by Inter last week. Damiano Ferronetti, Cristian Zapata, Goran Pandev, Aleksandr Kolarov and Lorenzo De Silvestri were injured, while Cristian Brocchi sat out a ban for the visitors.

Defeat here would equal Udinese's club record of six on the trot in 1961-62. Curiously, the Friulani had lost eight points by conceding second half goals, but Lazio had gained nine points in the same time period.

In the opening minutes Radu volleyed a Cristian ledesma free kick over the box.

Udinese took the lead with a well-worked goal. Fabio Quagliarella spun round and placed a disguised pass through to send Antonio Di Natale clear and the Italian international did the rest with a delightful chip.

Lazio, wearing an all-yellow strip, went close from a corner with Samir Handanovic getting down to parry from Mobido Diakhite'. The next corner proved disastrous, as a slip allowed Udinese to go on the counter from the centre-circle, as Quagliarella combined with Di Natale and the generous return pass allowed the former Sampdoria star to tap in.

Moments later Juan Pablo Carrizo prevented Quagliarella from making it 3-0, as Lazio were floundering. Carrizo palmed away a Gaetano D'Agostino free kick for Di Natale's volley parried by some acrobatic defending.

Lazio slowly got back into their stride towards half-time, but Tommaso Rocchi nodded a Ledesma ball just over, while Motta charged down Mauro Zarate's curler.

Udinese struck after the restart with another classic counter-attack. Di Natale went on his own, dribbled past Lichtsteiner and fired straight at Carrizo, but the goalkeeper spilled the shot horribly and it was child's play for Di Natale to deposit into an empty net.

Goran Pandev had come on as a substitute and he created Lazio's goal. His angled drive was only parried into the path of Zarate's tap-in.

Luigi Sala got into a scuffle with Zarate, as the Lazio man accused his opponent of elbowing him, while the Argentine kicked out after the ball had gone.

The Biancocelesti did not give in and got it back to 3-2! Diakhite' rose above the crowd to nod in a corner kick.

Zarate shaved a coat of paint off the upright with his right foot, while Carrizo flew to palm away Quagliarella's curler, as the game was completely open in this second half.

It paid off, as five minutes from time Lazio completed the comeback from 3-0 down to 3-3 with Ledesma's fierce daisy-cutter from almost 20 metres!
