Serie A Week 3 - 21/9/08 (14.00 UK)
Torino 1 - 3 Inter
Pisano og 23 (I), Maicon 25 (I), Ibrahimovic 51 (I), Abbruscato 76 (T)
Stadio Olimpico

Inter benefited from another own goal, but their trident attack is working wonders with this comfortable victory away to Torino.

Surprisingly, these two teams were level on four points going into the game and in fact Toro were ahead on goal difference. The Nerazzurri paid a price for their 2-1 win over Catania, as Sulley Ali Muntari began his three-match ban for elbowing Giacomo Tedesco, while Walter Samuel, Dejan Stankovic, Nelson Rivas, Maxwell and Luis Jimenez were injured. The Granata missed Ignazio Abate and Cesare Natali, but so far had only conceded one own goal.

Torino had lost their previous six meetings with Inter on the trot, conceding 14 goals and scoring just once in January 2007. Reducing those statistics to Turin-based encounters, the visitors had won seven consecutive games stretching back to 1994.

Adriano got a rare start after his fine goal in the Champions League against Panathinaikos midweek. Alessandro Rosina curled a promising effort past the top corner, while Matteo Sereni smothered a Zlatan Ibrahimovic volley.

It was a very even start to the game and Rolando Bianchi's header skimmed the bar.

A terrible Francesco Pratali fresh-air clearance handed Amantino Mancini the ball from six yards, but the Brazilian seemed stunned and his first touch let him down.

Inter have been getting the rub of the green recently and took the lead with another lucky deflection. Mancini's cross was prodded into his own net by Marco Pisano at the near post. Considering the deflection that aided Ricardo Quaresma's strike against Catania, the Nerazzurri's four goals so far this season included three own goals.

Moments later it was 2-0 and this time the goal was all to Inter's credit. Douglas Maicon finalised the fast-paced counter and unleashed a spectacular right-foot blockbuster from the edge of the box that cannoned in off the underside of the bar. The move had started from Inter's own half through Ibra and was passed around rapidly to leave Toro stranded.

To make matters worse for Toro, the talismanic Alessandro Rosina limped off to be replaced by Elvis Abbruscato.

Pisano's sliding tackle halted another classic Mancini counter-attack, but Torino had penalty appeals waved away for Cristian Chivu's challenge on Nicola Amoruso.

There were a very eventful two minutes after the restart. Esteban Cambiasso deflected an Aimo Diana cross on to the bar of his own goal. From the resulting corner, once again Torino were caught hopelessly unbalanced on the counter and Ibrahimovic slipped a cool finish with the outside of his foot past Sereni.

The trio of Adriano, Mancini and Ibrahimovic combined brilliantly and could've had a fourth counter-attack goal but for Sereni's fingertip save on l'Imperatore.

Julio Cesar got down to palm away a Saumel free kick and was beaten soon after by abbruscato. The former Lecce striker beat the offside trap to slide on to Saumel's cross from six yards. This means Inter have not kept a single Serie A clean sheet so far this season.

Toro weren't out of it yet and 10 minutes from time Julio Cesar flew to the base of his near post to palm away a diving Bianchi header from another Saumel cross.

The Granata fully deserved another goal in the final stages, as Abbruscato cracked a shot against the bar for the second time. The move continued and this time Julio Cesar was at full stretch to beat away Diana's attempt.
