Serie A Week 2 - 14/9/08 (14.00 UK)
Reggina 1 - 1 Torino
Amoruso 13 (T), Di Loreto og 43 (R)
Stadio Granillo

Nicola Amoruso returned to his old club and scored, but a Marco Di Loreto own goal forced a share of the spoils.

The Granillo welcomed home its two heroes of the 2006-07 campaign, when Nicola Amoruso and Rolando Bianchi netted 35 goals between them. Now they were reunited at Torino and got off to a flying start there too, crushing Lecce 3-0 in the opening round. Reggina were unfortunate to fall at Chievo and still had Ciccio Cozza, Edgar Barreto and Emanuele Cascione injured.

The Calabrians had not dropped points on home turf since a 1-1 draw with Napoli in March.

Reggina nearly took the lead after three minutes, as Carmone unleashed a fierce free kick from 20 metres that smacked against the crossbar with Matteo Sereni beaten.

The Amaranto shook the woodwork for a second time with Carmona setting up Barilla's right-foot strike.

However, it was Torino who opened the scoring with former Reggina hero Amoruso. He flicked the ball up over Valdez and his shot on the bounce from just inside the box beat Campagnolo with he aid of a deflection. As he promised, Amoruso did not celebrate out of respect to the fans he left in the summer.

Sereni was at full stretch to get a fingertip to Di Gennaro's angled drive from outside the area. Bernardo Corradi pounced on a Saumel error to skim the woodwork with a low finish.

Alessandro Rosina irritated his teammates when going on two slaloms and eventually hogging the ball too long so the chance went begging.

However, Reggina equalised in chaotic fashion on the stroke of half-time. Barilla's cross seemed harmless enough when Marco Di Loreto lost his footing during an attempted clearance and accidentally prodded it into his own net.

Campagnolo did well to get down and palm a dangerous Amoruso glancing header from a corner.

Reggina almost scored a very strange goal, as Sereni was alert to the danger of a Di Gennaro corner kick that was curling its way under the bar.

Francesco Pratali charged down a Franco Brienza snapshot, but there were no more goals at the Granillo.
