Nicola Amoruso returned to his old club and scored, but a Marco Di Loreto own goal forced a share of the spoils.

The Granillo welcomed home its two heroes of the 2006-07 campaign, when Nicola Amoruso and Rolando Bianchi netted 35 goals between them. Now they were reunited at Torino and got off to a flying start there too, crushing Lecce 3-0 in the opening round. Sereni was at full stretch to get a fingertip to Di Gennaro's angled drive from outside the area. Bernardo Corradi pounced on a Saumel error to skim the woodwork with a low finish.

Alessandro Rosina irritated his teammates when going on two slaloms and eventually hogging the ball too long so the chance went begging.

However, Reggina equalised in chaotic fashion on the stroke of half-time. Barilla's cross seemed harmless enough when Marco Di Loreto lost his footing during an attempted clearance and accidentally prodded it into his own net.

Campagnolo did well to get down and palm a dangerous Amoruso glancing header from a corner.

Reggina almost scored a very strange goal, as Sereni was alert to the danger of a Di Gennaro corner kick that was curling its way under the bar.
