Fabio Caserta grabbed his second goal of the season to rescue a point against Siena.
It was a special occasion for Mario Beretta, who rescued Siena from relegation last season only for the club to opt against renewing his contract. He had to do without the suspended Massimo Maccarone, whose three-match ban was reduced to two on appeal, so former Siena star Simone Tiribocchi was given the nod.
Daniele Galloppa drilled wide from distance early on, Houssine Kharja's left-foot daisy-cutter skimmed the upright and Gianluca Curci fingertipped an Andrea Zanchetta free kick out from under the bar.
Lecce had been in charge for most of the first half, but it was Siena who took the lead on 38 minues. Daniele Ficagna was left criminally unmarked at the back post to volley in a flicked on corner kick.
Kharja wasted a promising counter-attack before the break and straight after the restart Guglielmo Stendardo was inches away from tapping in an Antunes cross from the left.
Lecce equalised on 56 minutes, as a free kick was floated into the six yard box for Fabio Caserta's powerful header at the near post. It was his second goal of the season and he had only been on the field for two minutes after replacing Viktor Boudianski.
Zanchetta drilled over from distance on Guillermo Giacomazzi's assist, then Tiribocchi nodded a Zanchetta free kick over the bar.
Former Siena star Tiribocchi almost netted against his old club, but the angled drive on the volley was beaten away by Curci at the near post.
