Serie A Week 11 - 9/11/08 (14.00 UK)
Lazio 3 - 0 Siena
Zarate 58 (L), Rocchi 85, 93 (L)
Stadio Olimpico

Mauro Zarate broke his five-match goal drought and helped create two goals for Tommaso Rocchi.

Goran Pandev sat out a ban for the Biancocelesti, but Tommaso Rocchi was dropped despite regaining fitness, so Pasquale Foggia and Mourad Meghni supported Mauro Zarate. Siena were still celebrating a prestigious Tuscan derby victory over rivals Fiorentina. In the previous seven editions of this fixture, Lazio had won three and drawn four.

Ghezzal pounced on a defensive error for an angled drive that flashed across the face of goal, but moments later he almost scored an absolutely magnificent goal. His volley with the inside of his right foot was heading under the bar before an equally spectacular flying save from Juan Pablo Carrizo.

From the consequent corner Massimo Maccarone was allowed a free header at the back post but incredibly turned it wide from a couple of yards!

Maccarone wasted another header set up by Ghezzal, while Lichsteiner held up play just before half-time after clattering into the corner flag and snapping it.

Rocchi replaced the disappointing Meghni at the break, but it was Zarate who finally broke through after a five-round drought. The Argentine curled a fantastic free kick into the top corner from 22 metres, leaving Gianluca Curci with no chance.

A powerful but central Maccarone free kick was parried, but Lazio put the win beyond doubt late on when Rocchi was left unmarked to come sliding on to a Zarate cross from the right.

Deep into stoppages Zarate went on a mazy run down the right and his shot was parried into the path of Lichtsteiner, that too was parried and this time Lichtsteiner rolled across for the unmarked Rocchi.
