Giuseppe Mascara's hat-trick secured the points in a five-goal thriller with Torino.
Although the Sicilians had a blistering start that saw them top the table, recent weeks saw this become a relegation dogfight again. Both sides went into this game off a win, as Catania fought back to beat Cagliari and Toro sank Palermo in stoppages.
Matteo Sereni returned from injury, but Eugenio Corini, Ignazio Abate and Cesare Natali remained sidelined, while Alessandro Rosina and Rolando Bianchi were again dropped. Goals were needed, as Torino hadn't scored on their travels since September 24.
Torino took a shock lead in Sicily, as Riccardo Colombo was allowed to get in front of Sabato to tap in a Matteo Rubin cross from the left flank.
However, the advantage lasted all of 70 seconds before Giuseppe Mascara side-footed home from six yards on Michele Palucci's low cutback at the byline.
Simone Barone should have restored Torino's lead, but horribly scuffed wide after springing the offside trap. Ezequiel Carboni had a couple of long-range attempts and Roberto Stellone's header skimmed the woodwork.
Paolucci exchanged passes with Mascara for a low strike that Sereni parried with his legs at the near post. Mascara also went close himself, a header deflected wide from Gennaro Sardo's cross.
Catania lost Martinez with a muscular problem, making way for striker Gianvito Plasmati.
A brilliant Mascara free kick put the Sicilians in front for the first time. He curled a magnificent effort from outside the box that went over the wall and dipped into the verybottom near corner before Sereni could see it.
Plasmati redirected Biagianti's effort into the net, but it was ruled offside. On the stroke of half-time Amoruso nodded Ogbonna's cross inches wide.
Straight after the restart Cristian Terlizzi brought down Colombo in the box and Amoruso converted to make it 2-2 in this entertaining battle.
Mascara completed his hat-trick 10 minutes from time and ran under the Curva to take a bow in front of his adoring fans. Tedesco did most of the work, charging down the left to roll low for Mascara to come sliding in from six yards.
