Serie A Week 13 - 25/11/07 (14.00 UK)
Udinese 2 - 0 Siena
Quagliarella 43 (U), Di Natale 89 (U)
Stadio Friuli

Despite having Diaz Felipe sent off after 44 minutes, Udinese still saw off Siena 2-0.

Both Coaches had something to celebrate, as Pasquale Marino just extended his contract with Udinese until 2012, while Mario Beretta made his comeback to replace the sacked Andrea Mandorlini. He had been fired by Siena during the summer, but was recalled after Mandorlini left them propping up the table with just one win. Gyan Asamoah and the suspended Cristian Zapata were out of action.

This fixture had not ended in a stalemate since 2003, followed by two home wins and an away victory. Udinese got off to a bright start with Antonio Di Natale flicking up the ball for Dossena's fierce strike that skimmed the woodwork.

Siena, playing in their orange and black away strip, had a great opportunity after just 10 minutes. Massimo Maccarone rolled across for the totally unmarked Daniele Galloppa, but his lob was inches over the empty net.

A clumsy Simone Loria header from a corner was bundled wide and Di Natale's two solo efforts were off target.

There were chaotic scenes on 27 minutes. First Daniele Portanova scuffed a clearance, but then Simone Pepe did even worse as he failed to make the most of it by missing from point-blank range.

Di Natale went past former Udinese hero Valerio Bertotto and tested Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos at the near post.

The home side finally broke through on the stroke of half-time. Pepe went down the right and rolled across as the ball went past the entire Siena defence for Fabio Quagliarella's tap-in. Loria was keeping him in play.

However, moments later Udinese were left with 10 men on the field as Felipe received his second booking for a tackle from behind on Tomas Locatelli.

Siena's tails were up and Paolo De Ceglie's left-foot daisy-cutter from the edge of the area skimmed the target.

Yet Quagliarella should have made it 2-0 when he ran on to Di Natale's through ball, but fired straight at the Greek goalkeeper.

There was controversy as Mario Frick was stopped when clear on goal for an incorrect offside flag.

Quagliarella again went close, his header bringing a point-blank one-handed save out of Eleftheropoulos from Damiano Ferronetti's cross.

Despite being a man down, Udinese doubled their advantage 11 minutes from time. Quagliarella proved he was more effective when creating goals, as he rolled a perfect pass across for Di Natale to tap in his fifth of the campaign.

Siena did not give in. D'Agostino had to dive in to prevent Forestieri from tapping in Maccarone's assist moments later, then only a desperate Andrea Coda goalline clearance denied them.
