Serie A Week 18 - 13/1/08 (14.00 UK)
Torino 1 - 2 Livorno
Tavano 18, 45 (L), Bottone 78 (T)
Stadio Olimpico

Francesco Tavano scored twice in a shock Livorno victory that sends Torino hurtling down the standings.

This relegation dogfight saw Giancarlo Camolese come face to face with his former club, as he started his coaching career with Toro from 2000 to 2003, taking them into the top flight. The Granata were the draw specialists of Serie A this term with 11 stalemates in 17 games, while Livorno had drawn their last three on the trot, so another share of the spoils was a safe bet. The home side welcomed back Gianluca Comotto and Salvatore Lanna from suspension, although Vince Grella sat out his ban.

Sasa Bjelanovic's glancing header turned an Alvaro Recoba cross just past the far post, while the visitors were forced to replace Bergvold with a shoulder injury.

Livorno took a surprise lead away from home. De Vezze's long searching pass from midfield went over the Toro defence and Francesco Tavano's fine first touch allowed him to line up an angled drive.

Paolo Zanetti should have equalised moments later, but his header into the ground was parried by an outstretched Marco Amelia foot. David Di Michele continued his tendency to horribly waste great chances by ballooning over an Eugenio Corini assist, while Salvatore Lanna drilled off target.

There was an unfortunate incident when Zanetti, Giannichedda and Dario Knezevic collided. The first two got the worst of it and both had to be substituted. It was a particularly bad blow for Livorno, as Giannichedda had only just come on for the injured Bergvold.

In first half stoppages Toro were caught napping by Livorno's second goal. A Diego Tristan free kick came off the crossbar and Tavano was the first to react, tapping in from five yards. He celebrated by pointing a tattoo on his arm with the name of newly-born daughter Giulia to the camera.

Toro took quite a while to create chances and on 64 minutes Amelia had to beat away Gianluca Comotto's strike.

The Granata pulled one back in the final minutes when substitute Bottone placed an angled drive into the far bottom corner from the edge of the box. It was his first Serie A goal at his sixth appearance.
