Daniele Franceschini gave Sampdoria a barely-deserved point, as Cagliari's incredible form continued.
These two teams are probably in the best form in the League right now, as Samp won 2-1 away to Milan to close within a point of fifth place, while the Sardinians had won three of their last four games in an unlikely survival push. Antonio Cassano continued his five-match ban, joined by Stefano Lucchini, Gennaro Delvecchio and Cagliari's Michele Fini.
Emiliano Bonazzoli immediately had an effort charged down, but on 26 minutes Jeda was clear on goal and forced a fantastic save out of Luca Castellazzi.
Pasquale Foggia flashed an angled drive across the face of goal on the counter. It was a warning, as moments later Foggia got down the left flank and placed a delicate lob over the goalkeeper to put Cagliari in front.
Robert Acquafresca should have made it 2-0 in the second half on a classic counter, but hesitated and allowed defenders to charge him down. Acquafresca did hit the back of the net soon after, but it was disallowed for a dubious offside position after some dismal defending from Sampdoria.
Claudio Bellucci came on and his free kick was deflected into the path of Kalu for a fierce strike that tested Marco Storari.
Cagliari went close to a third goal, thumping the frame of the goal with Daniele Conti.
However, they were made to pay for those errors, as in stoppages Daniele Franceschini nodded into the near top corner from eight yards to draw Sampdoria level.
