Livorno grabbed their first win of the campaign and sent Reggina sliding to the foot of the table.
The two teams without a win this season and at real risk of relegation went head-to-head and Livorno were the underdogs, having lost their last five on the trot. Maurizio Lanzaro, Giovanni Pasquale and Daniele De Vezze sat out bans.
The last two editions of this Serie A fixture ended in draws and Livorno had never won here in the top flight.
Francesco Tavano failed to make the most of a Salvatore Aronica error with a weak finish straight at Campagnolo.
Livorno broke through on 34 minutes, as Nico Pulzetti was left alone on the edge of the area for a low drive that went between goalkeeper Campagnolo's legs. It was his first Serie A goal.
It lasted just three minutes before Reggina's equaliser. A free kick took several deflections and Amoruso got the final touch to head the looping ball over the line from close range.
Ceravolo nearly turned the game around completely before half-time, but his lob was just off target.
Reggina were hit hard 12 minutes from time, as Carlos Valdez accidentally turned a free kick into his own net as he came sliding in for the clearance.
Livorno took full advantage to secure their first victory of the season, as Tavano allowed substitute Fausto Rossini to spring the offside trap and place an angled drive past Campagnolo.
