Serie A Week 7 - 7/10/07 (14.00 UK)
Palermo 1 - 1 Reggina
Amoruso 92 (R), Amauri 94 (P)
Stadio Barbera

Amauri's stoppage-time goal prevented a shock defeat to Reggina, but it's crisis time for Palermo.

The Rosanero needed a victory after a disastrous week in which they lost 3-1 at Empoli and exited the UEFA Cup on penalties to Mlada Boleslav. President Maurizio Zamparini was already raging and the injury to Fabrizio Miccoli - who could be out for a month with a calf strain - further increased the tension. Reggina weren't exactly confident either, as they were still without a win and had Francesco Modesto suspended.

Fabio Simplicio and Halfredsson tried some early attempts from distance, but Nicola Amoruso should have done better when he shrugged off Giuseppe Biava only to fire over from six yards.

Aimo Diana set up Bosko Jankovic for a right-foot volley that skimmed the frame of the goal. Moments later the Sicilians almost took advantage of a defensive error, as Jankovic gathered totally unmarked from Mark Bresciano in the six-yard box, but couldn't quite turn around in time.

Fabio Simplicio should have done better when he pounced on a loose ball from a lucky ricochet off Diana, only to drill wide of the target with just the goalkeeper to beat.

Amauri was unlucky not to take the lead, as he spun round a stranded Valdez and the right-foot angled drive clipped the base of the near post with Campagnolo beaten.

Straight after the restart Campagnolo stuck out a foot to clear Diana's effort off the line following good build-up play from Simplicio down the left flank, while Jankovic was unable to turn in the loose ball.

Giulio Migliaccio clashed with Salvatore Aronica, but the referee waved away Palermo's penalty appeals.

Palermo were toothless in attack and so threw on Edison Cavani for the final 20 minutes.

Having sat back for so long, Reggina began to threaten in the final minutes. Barreto's free kick went close and Alberto Fontana beat away a Halfredsson strike.

Palermo ended the game with 10 men following Giuseppe Biava's second bookable offence on Ceravolo. In fact, the visitors thought they'd won it at the death with Amoruso's counter and precise angled drive.

However, that finally woke Palermo up and they equalised with practically the last kick of the game. Jankovic's cross was turned in off Amauri's diving header from close range.
