Serie A Week 35 - 27/4/08 (14.00 UK)
Palermo 0 - 0 Atalanta
Stadio Barbera

There were no goals, but plenty of chances between two teams with little left to play for.

This was a blast from the past, as Stefano Colantuono took Atalanta to promotion and Gigi Del Neri had a brief spell on the Rosanero bench. There was precious little to play for other than pride, but Amauri, Mark Bresciano and Leandro Rinaudo were suspended along with the visiting Antonio Langella.

Last season Atalanta won this fixture 3-2 when Colantuono was on the other side of the divide.

Guarente accidentally sent Fabrizio Miccoli clear and he passed to Edison Cavani, but the Uruguayan hesitated and the chance went begging.

Miccoli dribbled past a series of players and his delightful lob clipped the crossbar, but Cavani wasted another good chance with his diving header from six yards flashing wide from Bosko Jankovic's cross.

Atalanta were also dangerous in the first half, as Andrea Barzagli had to perform a crucial intervention to deny Ferreira Pinto when clear on goal from Cristiano Doni's pass.

Straight after the restart Federico Agliardi had his palms stung by a Doni strike, while the Atalanta captain came sliding in and just failed to get his deflection on target.
