Serie A Week 33 - 13/4/08 (14.00 UK)
Napoli 2 - 0 Atalanta
Hamsik 63 (N), Lavezzi 65 (N)
Stadio San Paolo

Napoli needed just two goals in 120 seconds to see off Atalanta at the San Paolo.

The Partenopei were out for revenge after a crushing 5-1 defeat in Bergamo earlier this season. Fabiano Santacroce and Cristiano Doni sat out a ban, but Atalanta were also missing Antonio Langella, Zlatan Muslimovic and Claudio Rivalta. Napoli goalkeeper Gennaro Iezzo returned after two months out injured.

Ezequiel Lavezzi got on the end of a low Daniele Mannini cross at the back post and fired straight at Ferdinando Coppola from six yards in the opening minutes.

Paolo Cannavaro timed his intervention perfectly to close down Sergio Floccari as he was powering up the shot from nine yards.

Iezzo marked his comeback after knee surgery by having his palms stung from a Fernando Tissone screamer.

Matteo Contini did not get a clean enough header to a free kick at the back post and it ricocheted off Bellini's shoulder for a corner.

At the dawn of the second half Napoli had a great chance when Coppola flew to palm away a fierce Walter Gargano strike and also the follow-up from Contini.

Coppola is a former Napoli goalkeeper and he performed a stunning save to deny Lavezzi in a one-on-one situation on the hour mark.

Soon after he got a hand to Roberto Sosa's effort, but could do nothing on Marek Hamsik's follow-up.

Just 120 seconds later it was 2-0 for the San Paolo side. Sosa was again involved, his cross from the left finding Lavezzi and Bellini come sliding in from five yards. There was controversy as it appeared to ricochet off his arm, though it may have come off Bellini too.

Sosa blasted the opportunity for 3-0 over the bar and Coppola denied Lavezzi.
